Google Apps

I think that Google for Educators is one of the best things out there that teachers have access to for FREE! It puts all of the things that Google has that could be helpful for teachers all in the one place.
My personal favorite is Google Docs. At times I still feel very uncomfortable using technology but I have caught on very fast to docs and I think it is a great thing to use in the classroom. My first experience was using it in class as a student to hand in assignments. It is a great way to get instant feedback on what you wrote, and you’re not wasting any paper, so it is green! This would be a great way to involve technology into your classroom.

Involing Technology into the Schools

After watching the following video it got me thinking about technology in the schools. It seems that there is a huge push everywhere for teacher’s curriculum to involve technology but either the teachers don’t know how to use it or they don’t have the resources. At this particular school they are lucky enough to have a computer lab the only problem is that everyone wants to use it! They have a teacher who knew enough about technology and cared enough about his students that he brought it to there attention that they need to integrate it in to there everyday lessons.
I think that teachers everywhere can take a lesson from him; if your school is not revolving around technology do something about it. Take it upon yourself to learn about the new technologies and how to use it in your classroom.

Books Come Alive

What if while reading "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" students could follow along on line. This is what students can do with Google Lit Trips.  Lit trips always students to follow along with the characters in the book it also adds extra things and side notes about what is going on during that time era, or what other events might be of interest. This would be very helpful for students who have a hard time getting excited about reading. By using this it could spark their interest, it could also help with students comprehension.

Cell Phones in the Classroom

Do you think there should be cell phones in the classroom? This is question that an increasing number of educators need to answer. Technology is everywhere we look, students are carrying laptops in their bags and phones in their pockets that can connect them to almost anything they would want to know anywhere, anytime.

I think that the use of cell phones and other technology enhances student’s education. You can use phones to see who could look up the answerer the fastest; students could text in answers. Today’s students have grown up using technology their whole lives. We as teachers need to adapt to our students and do whatever it takes to reach them so that we can educate them.
